GEOGRAPHY
Making Maps

*After concluding any other work we have to do, we will prepare to map the Science Hill campus.  Students will work alone, in pairs, or in groups of three to measure the physical features of the 8-9 campus.  Using these measurements and other observations, the students will make maps to turn in.  The maps will be graded for neatness, accuracy, and for following some basic rules of mapmaking.

*Each maps should have a compass rose to indicate North.  They should each have a key or legend describing any symbols they use.  They should each have a scale, showing how distances on their map compare to distances on the actual campus.

*The students should also put their names and class period on the map, perhaps on the back.  If we have a compass, we will ascertain which way north is.  If not, we will make our best guess.
